TEACHING EXPERIENCE 

Division of Fine and Performing Arts, Marymount Manhattan College, New York, NY 2008-present
 

    Elements of Directing: A required practical laboratory style course for all theatre majors that covers the history, theory and techniques of stage direction. Basic directorial concepts are studied and applied to scenes and exercises. Topics include composition, movement, play analysis, production approach and research and collaboration with other theatre artists.

          Director: Work with student actors one one-act plays  in a workshop format.

    Mentor: Advised a third year directing student on  her first full production. Sat in on rehearsals, production meetings  and tech and met regularly with the student to help her process feedback, address issues and plan rehearsals.

    Theatre 2, Intro to Acting: A course is designed to give the student an introduction to the basic craft of acting and to guide the student in their exploration of their voice, body and self. Through improvisation, scene work, voice and movement techniques, the student actor begins to learn how to analyze a text, to create a character, to speak comfortably in front of an audience, to take risks and to think and act in a creative way.

    Voice and Articulation: A required course aimed at teaching the role of voice and diction in effective professional communication. Students learn the fundamental concepts of clear vocal communication including anatomy of the vocal instrument, phonetics, articulation, and various modulators through the study of the International Phonetic Alphabet. 

    Interpersonal Communication: In this course students tudy and analyze the principle elements of interpersonal communication, gaining insights into communication behavior, identify strengths and weaknesses, and develop strategies for improvement.  Students are expected to study and discuss assigned readings, participate in classroom exercises, submit homework, take written tests, and present one speech.

Taught art, media, writing and technology program, served as a college preparation advisor and supervised interns in the work place. Coordinated grant writing with development office and supervised program expansion and recruitment.
  • Access Program Director  Coordinated program to arrange free visits for low income families to the museum, who are then eligible for reduced rate memberships.
